The Challenge
A foreign-owned construction materials trading company decided to exit the Qatar market following a strategic business review. The company had 30 employees, outstanding government obligations, inventory worth QAR 5 million, ongoing lease commitments, and needed to complete the liquidation in a manner compliant with Qatar's Commercial Companies Law while ensuring all employee end-of-service benefits were settled properly.
Our Solution
Appointed a licensed liquidator and published the required liquidation notice in local newspapers and the MOCI gazette as required by law.
Calculated and settled all employee end-of-service benefits in accordance with Qatar Labour Law, including gratuity payments, unused leave encashment, and repatriation costs for departing employees.
Managed the disposal of remaining inventory through wholesale agreements with other trading companies, maximizing recovery for the shareholders.
Systematically deregistered the company from all government authorities: General Tax Authority (tax clearance), Qatar Chamber of Commerce, Customs, Municipality, and MOCI.
Cancelled all employee residency permits and work visas in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, ensuring no outstanding immigration violations.
The Results
- Complete liquidation finalized within 16 weeks, including all government deregistrations.
- All 30 employees received full end-of-service settlements with zero labour complaints.
- Inventory disposal recovered 85% of book value, exceeding the client's expectations.
- Tax clearance certificate issued by the General Tax Authority confirming no outstanding obligations.
