Quality and Safety Management System Implementation
Services Provided
The Challenge
A medium-sized construction company in Qatar needed to obtain ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety) certifications to qualify for pre-qualification on government construction tenders that increasingly mandated these certifications. The company had no existing formal management systems and needed both certifications within 4 months.
Our Solution
Conducted a gap analysis of the company's existing processes against both ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 requirements, identifying the documentation, process controls, and management practices needed.
Designed and implemented an integrated management system covering both quality and OHS requirements, creating approximately 45 documented procedures, work instructions, and control forms.
Developed project-specific quality plans and safety management plans that could be customized for individual construction projects.
Trained 15 company managers and supervisors as internal auditors and conducted a full internal audit cycle to verify system effectiveness before the certification audit.
Coordinated the Stage 1 (documentation review) and Stage 2 (implementation audit) certification audits with an accredited certification body, preparing the management team for auditor interviews.
The Results
- Both ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications achieved within 14 weeks.
- Zero non-conformities identified during the Stage 2 certification audit.
- Company immediately qualified for 3 previously inaccessible government tender pre-qualifications.
- Workplace incident rate reduced by 50% within the first 6 months of ISO 45001 implementation.
